Separate classes for some twin preppies starting at Aspendale Gardens Primary School

THE old cliche double trouble won’t apply in Aspendale Gardens Primary classes, with parents of twins deciding to separate their pairs for school.

Although four sets of twins started Prep at the school this week, not all were in the same class.

Joanne Summers aid the family had decided to request sons Alexander and Liam, 6, were in different classes.

“I know a lot of parents like their twins to be together but we wanted to give them a chance to find their own identity and avoid distracting one another,” Ms Summer said.

“We knew it was right for them before they even started.

“They are good friends but they sat there in the interview punching each other!”

Mum of Alp and Ece, 5, Burcu Buyuksai came to a similar conclusion for her children.

“Ece really likes writing and Alp isn’t interested yet,” Ms Buyuksai said.

“We didn’t want him to be discouraged by his sister being at a different stage.”

She said the first day of school held extra meaning for the family, who have called Australia home for just one year.

“We moved here from Turkey 12 months ago,” Ms Buyuksai said.

“We love Turkey, it’s a beautiful place. But the politics are extreme and we wanted a different future for our children.”
